Broadcasters who used to send five people to an event overseas can now stay at home and download using the MASV solution, because it’s fast enough for them to not have to go on-site. They’re saving on the trip – having to pay airfare and hotel for three weeks for four or five people.

“I said to myself: ‘That’s OK – I guess people don’t always get to mix their passions with their work.’ But then one day, I received a message from ScorePlay.”
🏆 ScorePlay Highlights:
- Raised $13M in Series A financing with 20VC, Seven Seven Six, BYL Ventures, and other investors in early 2025.
- Averages around 100 new customers every 12 months.
- Headquartered in NYC, with offices in Paris and Lisbon; plans to double its headcount to nearly 100 by the end of 2026.

The Challenge: Fast File Transfer to Facilitate Global, Real-Time Sports Media Workflows
The sports media industry has grown by leaps and bounds, so much so that most tools for sports media workflows have struggled to catch up.
“When it comes to media management, most organizations have several different tools – and they spend a lot of time trying to consolidate everything,” explains Locatelli. “So they end up with thousands of clips all over the place. Finding specific clips becomes a huge challenge.”
ScorePlay solves most of these issues with its AI-powered media infrastructure.
But it still had one major issue it needed to solve: Fast file transfer of large media packages – often of several terabytes – across long distances.
Challenge #1: Fast, global file transfer of massive media files for real-time sports editing workflows
ScorePlay’s main challenge was simple: “Transferring data fast,” as Locatelli tells it. The company’s previous solution provided middling transfer speeds, especially over long distances, which made it difficult for video teams when their clubs were on the road.
“We reached a point where users said: ‘When I’m downloading something or uploading something, it takes ages,” he says, adding that the challenge was especially acute for U.S.-based teams playing far from home. “If you’re a New York team, but you go play in L.A., you’re far away from your own tools and storage.
“They told us: ‘When I’m trying to edit video from the other side of the country, it’s super slow. And we really can’t work that way.’”
Challenge #2: Broadcast time to air
ScorePlay also works with event partners, who in turn work with sports broadcasters who need extremely high-resolution content delivered to post and marketing teams as close to as real-time as possible to slice and dice content for various platforms.
“These broadcasters need the content to be available to them as quickly as possible” to enable fast turnarounds and speed to air – even when transferring file packages pushing 5 TB in size..
But this wasn’t possible under ScorePlay’s previous file transfer solution.
Challenge #3: Remote editing
Many of ScorePlay’s editing clients prefer to edit video from their home office – especially if a game takes place on a Friday or Saturday night. But that was also a difficult task prior to MASV.
“They had to go to the office, to their editing desk, just to access the file,” he explains. “If they had a game on the weekend, they’d have to go in on a Saturday night to put some video on a USB drive, go back home and edit, then go back to the office and re-add them to storage.”
Challenge #4: Quickly testing and adding file transfer to existing workflows
Although ScorePlay originally looked at Aspera for its file transfer needs, he says the drawn-out and cumbersome sales and onboarding process made it next to impossible.
“Most of the time, you need a desktop client license. You need to speak to 10 different people to get it, which meant it wasn’t easy to do benchmarking or beta testing. And they were honestly quite expensive and we would’ve had to sign a long contract.”
Accelerating Data Ingest for AI
Why Troveo, a video licensing platform that licenses creator content to generative AI companies, uses MASV to ingest TBs of data.
The Solution: Global File Transfer Enabling Lightning-Fast Time to Air
ScorePlay needed a solution that was simple to set up, test, and use for clients sending several terabytes across the country (or the world). After finding MASV, Locatelli says the fit almost made too much sense.
Now, ScorePlay creates a MASV Portal for every client that requires a fast download of a large file from its Amazon S3 storage bucket. It also uses the MASV API to connect users directly with specific areas within its S3 storage bucket.
“We create a MASV package, upload the file to a Portal, and send them the package link. And for customers who have large events, we create a specific Portal for them.”
MASV clients can spin up as many Portals as they need – for free – with just a couple of clicks.
Fast global transfer for video editors on tight deadlines
Locatelli says MASV solved the speed issue for ScorePlay, with MASV’s accelerated global network – underpinned by secure AWS infrastructure – providing transfer speeds 10X to 12X faster than ScorePlay’s previous transfer solution.
“With some customers, we’ve gone from ‘it’s not possible for us to work with that speed’ to ‘these speeds are amazing.’ Plus, it’s very seamless for our clients. Even when the file is coming from the other side of the world, MASV just works.”
The MASV Desktop App for transfer automations
ScorePlay advises broadcast and event partners who need extremely high-res footage delivered across large distances quickly to use the MASV Desktop App, which offers even better performance than the MASV Web App, along with enabling complex automated workflows.
ScorePlay helps broadcasters configure automated workflows using Desktop App, so they can receive automated downloads as soon as content gets added to a MASV Portal or Watch Folder.
“Let’s say a broadcaster has access to ScorePlay,” he explains. “Every video editor, or anyone working at the broadcaster with the Desktop App installed on their computer will have the download trigger automatically as soon as a file is available in the Portal. And so they don’t have to continually check if there is a new file available.”
This workflow enabled broadcasters to save considerably on travel costs (more on this in the next section).
Remote file access for video teams – anytime, anywhere – with MASV Portal
Instead of having to come into the office to download files from S3, editors can use MASV to download them at high speeds at their home or anywhere else with an internet connection via a browser-based Portal – then re-upload the edited files once they’re done.
This eliminates tedious (and time-consuming) trips to and from the office (and back again) to download and then re-upload files.
Locatelli says ScorePlay frequently customizes their clients’ Portals with their branding, logo, and colors to provide a seamless experience.
“The clients really like that,” he says. “They think it’s super nice.”
Hours of setup and testing (vs. days or weeks)
Instead of needing days – or even weeks – to set up MASV and test its speed, security posture, and workflows like with other enterprise file transfer solutions, Locatelli says ScorePlay was able to get its testing and setup done with MASV in just a couple of hours.
- It took ScorePlay less than a day to set up MASV and performance/workflow test it to the company’s specifications, including testing the MASV API.
- It took less than a week to integrate MASV into ScorePlay workflows and start using MASV at scale with several customers.
“We first tried it with some customers who always used Apera in the past, and they told us it was as fast as Aspera” along with being much easier to install and set up. “It was easy to install, easy to set up, and the customers are happy. The API documentation is very clear, easy to understand. So it was super easy to put in place.”
The Result: Saving Clients Money – and Time – With Fast Global File Transfer
Locatelli says MASV was faster and easier to work with than other transfer solutions ScorePlay tried – but that was just the beginning of the benefits for the company’s clients.
Along with enabling video editors and other staff to work remotely and not have to waste time waiting for slow transfers, he says several broadcasters have told ScorePlay they no longer need to send large post teams to do on-site work at large sporting events, thanks to the speeds provided by the MASV Desktop App.
“We’ve had cases where some broadcasters told us they used to send five people to an event overseas, and now they can stay at home and download using the MASV solution, because it’s fast enough for us to not have to go on-site,” he says, adding that this saves broadcasters significant travel costs. “They’re saving on the trip – having to pay airfare and the hotel for three weeks for four or five people.”
