The All-New MASV 3.0
It’s been a few months since you last heard from MASV, and you’ve probably been wondering what we’ve been up to. Well, we didn’t fall off of the face of the Earth – actually, far from it. Our team has been very busy rebuilding MASV from scratch.
I’m very proud to announce we now have an all-new version of our product called MASV 3.0, launching today.

Why the new version?
The original versions of MASV (1.0 and 2.0) were built mostly as an experiment, to gauge the appetite of video professionals when it came to sending very large files quickly across the world with just their browsers. The product validated our ability to solve this problem, but although MASV 2.0 did a good job delivering files quickly, it wasn’t built in a way that enabled us to easily integrate with other tools or quickly add new features.
Enter MASV 3.0. Leveraging cutting-edge development technologies, we’re now able to send files faster and more reliably, develop new features at breakneck speeds, and integrate seamlessly with your existing tools.
What’s new in MASV 3.0?
We first wanted to ensure the viability of our core functionality, and that we could deliver consistently high performance. So we rebuilt our uploader code to support a full range of internet connections while also expanding our accelerated network from 10 to 160 servers worldwide. We also transitioned to using primarily Amazon Web Services as our cloud provider (as opposed to Microsoft Azure, which we used in the past). Our network coverage map is below:
This translates to consistent, blazing fast speeds from more locations across the world. Our testing shows a significant improvement on transfer speeds over our main competitors:
New User Interface
A major advantage of our new API-based design is the ability to leverage more modern front-end technology (in this case, Vue). Our new front-end is dead-simple to use, and leverages Google’s Material Design framework to ensure we’ve followed industry best practices on how each of our features operate. We think both you and your clients will find this design both more intuitive and more reactive.
But don’t worry — we’ve kept all the same features you already enjoyed about MASV 2.0, including the ability to apply custom branding to the main app, download pages, portal pages (to receive files), and emails.
Below is an example of how one client of ours, Audi, branded its main app:
Mobile Friendly Design
One of our most requested features was to provide support for uploading, managing, and downloading files on mobile devices. Thanks to our new front-end technology and rebuilt uploader, you can now do all the above on your mobile device!
Here’s what the main app looks like on mobile:
Admittedly, we still have some work to do to make it as mobile friendly as we’d like. But it’s a big step up from our old version, where mobile access was blocked. We’ll ultimately offer a native mobile app for iOS and Android to send, manage, and download your deliveries. Expect some quick upgrades over the next month to improve the MASV mobile experience even further.
We continue to offer a pay-as-you-go billing model. Considering most of our clients have project-based businesses, it just makes sense.
We did, however, make some changes to the price and method of how we calculate your cost. MASV 3.0 bills based on data downloaded, versus MASV 2.0 which billed based on data uploaded. This means that your cost is applied once your recipient downloads the delivery, as opposed to your costs being applied on upload completion as in MASV 2.0. The main reason we made this change is because the cloud vendors we work with charge us based on data downloaded.
Our product has also evolved since the original MASV 1.0, so our per-gigabyte price will increase to $0.25 to reflect the improvement in value we provide. By adopting this new price and billing process, our revenue will be better aligned to the costs and resources required to ensure continued improvement and support, including innovation, more technical hires, and performance/reliability gains.
API-First Product Design
One of the most exciting features of MASV 3.0 is that it’s now entirely designed on top of a robust API. For developers who use our product, this means you can now write scripts to automate MASV to exactly match your needs.
For non-developers, it means our team will be able to release exciting new integrations that connect our service to many of your existing workflows and tools. While we don’t have any integrations to announce just yet, here’s a sneak peek into what’s under development:
- iOS Mobile App
- Windows Desktop App
- Adobe Premiere + Media Encoder Panel
- and much more!
These days, the most useful features are those that make your day-to-day life easier. The best way we can make that happen is to remove tedious steps from your processes, and to that end we’ve planned a rolling thunder of integrations with MASV throughout the year. We’re extremely excited to offer these to our users. Expect a full featured developer portal, with code examples and guides, in the upcoming months.
Summing it up
A lot of time and effort has been put into MASV 3.0. But with any new version, there are always improvements that can be made as more users get involved. As always, our support team is available to take your suggestions and make sure the changes you want are implemented as fast as our fingers can type.
We’re very excited to hear what you think of this version, and can’t wait to see what you do with our API! A huge thank you from our entire team for your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing you in MASV 3.0.

P.S. None of this would be possible without our amazing development team, so a special thank you to them for the many evenings and weekends they put in making this new version a reality!
